Labradorite Crow Feather Charm Necklace

“BLUE SKIES SMILING AT ME, NOTHING BUT BLUE SKIES DO I SEE.”

Sterling silver crow feather necklace, with a brilliant blue labradorite charm.

This sterling silver feather pendant measures approximately 2.5″ in length, and is imprinted with the natural pattern from a real crow feather. It has been hand-sawn, shaped and selectively hammered to complement the feather impression. The bright blue labradorite charm measures  1″ tall, and shimmers and flashes as the light catches it.  The sterling silver has been oxidised and brushed to highlight all the fine details, and then given a gentle polish for a subtle shine. Both pieces hang from hand-forged silver loops, on an oxidised sturdy sterling silver chain. The pendants can be worn together or each separately, creating three looks in one.

The charms are wonderfully tactile, and comforting to wear and hold. The shimmering labradorite changes from the brightest sky blue to a deep blue or stormy grey as the light changes, reflecting the skies where the crows fly.

This feather is created by carefully imprinting the pattern from a genuine crow feather deep into the silver, using traditional processes.  As each one is created from a different feather, or different part of the feather, no two will be exactly the same. No crows are harmed in obtaining these feathers! I am fortunate to have several friendly crows living nearby, who are always happy to see me and accept the occasional peanut. During their summer moult they leave many feathers behind and I carefully collect and store each one. As these pieces are created from these gathered feathers, they are strictly limited in supply, depending upon how many feathers I am gifted each year.

There is a wealth of mythology surrounding crows in numerous cultures. For the ancient Greeks, the crow was a symbol of Apollo, god of prophecy; a powerful symbol of good fortune and strength. In some cultures, seeing a crow means hope for the future and that the heart’s true wishes will be fulfilled, while many Native American cultures see the crow as a wise adviser and protector. No matter your beliefs, these are beautiful, intelligent birds.

The perfect piece for a crow lover, and for anyone needing a blue sky day, every day.

One only. Your feather charm necklace will be entirely unique to you. May it allow you to soar.

Part of my “Wild Earth” collection, a celebration of the natural world, its landscapes and wild inhabitants. These pieces are created as a reminder that there is no better designer than Nature, and to find enough beauty to fill the soul, we need only look around us.
